DU girl signs 3-film deal
Beauty pageant winners continue to make it big to Bollywood. Urvashi Rautela, 19, who won the title of I Am She Miss India Universe 2012, is all set to play the leading lady in the Bollywood film Singh Sahab The Great.
What will be interesting to see is 19-year-old Urvashi opposite Sunny Deol, who is 38 years her senior! “I am playing a young and pretty Punjabi girl, Mini, who is in her 20s and falls in love with this elderly man (Sunny Deol) and yet they are so compatible with each other,” says the 5’9’’ beauty, who is also a known face in the ad world.
Sharing the silver screen with National award winners Sunny Deol and Prakash Raj was a great learning experience for Urvashi. “Sunny Deol is shy and an introvert but backstage he is a very sporty guy. We gelled well over our common interests in gadgets and sports. Prakash Raj’s intense look in his eyes makes him look like a serious-looking person, but it was absolute fun shooting with him,” tells Urvashi, who has signed a three-film contract with director Anil Sharma.
The beauty queen misses spending time in the capital with her friends. “I miss Delhi, now when I have shifted to Mumbai for my professional career. Delhi is a fashion capital. Living there has definitely helped me groom my personality. I miss the street food of Delhi, specially the chaat papdi and paranthas of Paranthe Wali Gali,” says Urvashi, who is currently pursuing English (Hons) from Delhi University.
