DU seniors offer jugaad solutions
Don’t know any cool hangout spots or a food joint on the campus? Still looking for affordable accommodation? Don’t worry, your seniors at DU have a gift for you. Instead of planning a prank or two on the freshers, a few seniors have come up with dujugaad.com, an interesting website which promises to make life easy for newcomers at Delhi University.
Run by six friends, this “online information counter”, as they call it, offers information about all you want to know about DU. “We know how difficult the initial few years are for freshers in the campus. It is an entirely different world and there is so much one needs to know. We know this because we have been through all this,” says Sidhant Ghai, one of the co-creators. “Freshers often land at wrong places and being vulnerable they are often duped. It is our attempt to help them and prevent them from exploitation,” he adds.
The website is receiving around 50 calls and around 300 hits daily. Seeing the response, the founders are planing to tie up with various food joints, computer centers and PGs in the vicinity and have special packages for students under their club membership program.
Parvesh Sen, who just got admission in B.Com, got to know about dujugaad.com from a friend. “I visited a few accommodations after I got information from here. It’s going to be a great help throughout my tenure in DU,” he says.
“Apart from the six of us, a lot of friends are volunteering for the project. It’s a fulfilling experience and we are keen on carrying it further,” says Ashish Kumar, one of the co-founders.
