Element of humour and history
The uniqueness in Mexican band, Paté de Fuá’s works emerges from the fact that their musical repertoire is full of characters and stories that are wrapped in its plot of ironies and pessimistic humour.
Presented in India by Embassy of Mexico and ICCR, the band is constituted of Mexican and Argentinean musicians who pick from now almost defunct genre such as dixieland, traditional jazz, tango, paso doble, musette, among others.
While fans and musicians anxiously await this unique presentation, those that keenly following their music say it takes the essence of their folk history and amalgamates it into a harmonic melody. “Pete de Fua’s music is influenced by styles that have been long forgotten even in their own homeland. By mixing and merging genres of olden days when the musical diversity of the world still existed their sounds often evoke nostalgia and happiness. It’s a quality very unique to them and a rare one to find,” says musicologist A.K. Raina.
With a clear acoustic presentation, the band functions like an orchestra whilst using instruments like the accordion, banjo, bandoneón, cornet, cabrófono, washboard and the saw.
On Wednesday, November 2, at 7 pm at Kamani Auditorium. For passes contact 011-23378146.
