F1 parties are synonymous with glam and thrill. They are a gorgeous cocktail of glitz, glam and glitterati. And this weekend when India hosts the F1 event and the after parties, the capital can’t wait to be a part of it.

Fashion designer Nida Mahmood, who attended the F1 after parties last season, is excited to attend them again this weekend. “F1 parties are a huge craze mainly because of the popularity of the sport. While it gives you adrenaline rush on the racetrack, the after parties are a good place to meet people and the F1 racers remain the main crowd-pullers,” says Nida.
F1 is exclusive and what’s exclusive is always sought after, agrees Vikram Mayor, director, Silver Sand Productions Pvt Ltd. He says, “Big bashes keep happening, but what makes F1 parties different is the thrill with a chill. Last year F1 bashes were all about electrifying thrill and anticipation, not knowing what to expect and then being delivered something that was beyond imagination. It’s the sheer extravagance and the quality of performances that sets these parties apart.”
“The best part last time was watching Lady Gaga performing so close, I could almost touch her. F1 parties see the best artistes, best DJs performing for a decent crowd. That makes them special,” adds designer Jenjum Gadi.
In keeping with the expectations, there are special themes and line-up of performances scheduled for the event in the capital. Amber Lounge is getting Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas to perform on October 27 and 28. “Taboo will be giving an exclusive performance — dj-ing, mc-ing and high energy dance,” confirmed Sonia Irvine, founder of Amber Lounge. Amber Lounge has no separate VIP area. “Everyone is a VIP for us. Also, there is something naughty about dancing all over a white sofa,” adds Sonia.
Actor Arjun Rampal’s LAP has a line-up of performances by internationally renowned artistes including Darren Foreman aka Beardyman, a musician from London known for his beatboxing skills, 16Bit Lolitas and Grammy award winner Dirty Vegas and many more. The last day will see Arjun’s debut as a DJ. What’s more, attendees will be rubbing shoulders with the Bollywood brigade.
“All my friends are fond of F1. They would come again if they want to see the action on the track and then be a part of after parties,” adds Arjun.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
