FB users wary of new Timeline

Timeline is the story of your life. That’s what Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said when he unveiled the new Timeline feature sometime back. The Facebook Timeline is visually attractive, feel many and the cover photo allows them to customise their profiles with an impressive image.
Since the Internet never forgets anything, this new feature too enables the users to sneak into their past and refreshes the sweet old memories. At the same time it also drags back all those images and messages that we had hoped to forget forever or assumed that we would never encounter.
“Facebook Timeline is quite silly actually. There are things that change in a year and now with this, people can easily see the posts you had posted in the past and sometimes it does get a little embarrassing. For instance, my current girlfriend could easily read all that I had posted about my ex on my wall and it soured our relationship. As a result now I hardly visit Facebook,” laments businessman Rhythm Verma. Seconds Amitoj Gautam, who works with a publishing house, “You click on Timeline once and you are trapped forever. You can’t change it if you have used it once. It’s too lousy.”
Many users dumped Myspace, Orkut and joined Facebook because it was uncomplicated. Its simplicity made it an instant hit with netizens. “But the recent changes, like the Timeline, have got things all mixed up. I want them in order, the way they used to be. Also for anyone who is using it, it has become impossible to read/view their profile because it always gets stuck in an infinite loop of refreshing,” complains Rashi Bhardwaj, a media professional.
But marketing executive with a luxury brand Aashima Malik says it’s a good interface. “It gives the option to add my personal life events and control what I want people to see and what not in a simple way. It gives my profile a personalised view and keeps a track of my life. It’s a good feature on Facebook after a long time,” she says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
