Feeling the heat in hill stations
You need a break. While a hill station’s pleasant weather might help you relax, the scenic beauty will make the holiday more enjoyable. But little did you know that rather than packing sweatshirts for hill station, you would be required to carry suntan lotion and umbrellas. Most hill stations and weekend getaways, around Bengaluru, are hotter than the city.
Riding on your bikes to a hill station sounds like a good idea and so, Sumit A., a techie and his friends decided to do just that. They rode on the highway to Yelagiri. “Early in the morning, we wore sweatshirts as we left the city for the hill station. Mid-way, we had to take off our sweatshirts and wear T-shirts and sunglasses. Rather than enjoying a hill station’s pleasant weather, we had to look for suntan lotion and air conditioned restaurants to avoid the sun,” says Sumit. Nisha Mittal and her friends had recently planned a weekend getaway to Bheemeshwari. They decided to get back home the same day due to the scorching heat. Her recent trip to Hogenakkal was enjoyable, but she missed Bengaluru’s weather. “Even Hogenakkal Falls was hotter than our city. These days, the weather in Bengaluru is so pleasant that one doesn’t feel like leaving the city,” says Nisha.
Although a trip to Pondicherry sounds fun, it is only wise to avoid it at this time of the year. Neerja O., a research analyst, says, “Pondicherry is too hot and humid now. After her recent trip to the place, she says.
