Festive ‘n’ fabulous!

He has transformed models and actors alike with his remarkable make-up skills, and graced various Bollywood films such as Fashion, Rang De Basanti and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom with his expertise. Cory Wallia tells us all about how to dazzle and sizzle this festive season!

Clothes maketh the... make-up
Given the festive season, one can style themselves in terms of hair and make-up depending on what they're wearing. If you have an Indo-western look in mind, add shades of bronze, combinations of teal blue and copper, lilac purple and jewel green in your make-up, to your look. For a more western look go with colours like pure silver, grey combined with copper, burgundy, black and sage green.

Evening
With regards to a festive evening party look, use bright eye shadows like corals and pale gold and aim for nice loud lips. With respect to lips and the eyes, one can easily use these tips and tricks at home and create the perfect festive look. Adorn your eyes with light colours on your inner lid contoured with a matt brown. You can also use a thin eyeliner with black kohl.

Lips don’t lie
For the lips, use more of coral shades, fuchsia pinks and other colours like almond, beige and petal pink. Lip colours that best suit the Indian skin for a day look are corals, petal pink, day soft lilac and fuchsia. For a sizzling night look, explore shades like nudes, bronze, metallic purple, matt deep red and copper.

Skin sense
Always ensure that the make-up you apply goes well with your skin tone. If you have a wheatish complexion, wear dark kohl and a defined liner. You can use shades like bronze, gold, pure silver shades for eye shadows and contour the eyes with a dark brown for finishing. If you are fair skinned, wear kohl, and towards the ends of the eye lid smudge a little bit of brown to define the eyes, yet give them a softer look. Always use corals and nudes on lips. Eye shadows such as olive green with a touch of gold and fuchsia can complete the look.

Hair and there
For the Indo western, formal look during the festive season, the hair can be tied into a side ponytail. Decorate it with orchids or a hair accessory.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
