Films on road safety
To sensitise people about driving on congested Indian roads, particularly those who are always breaking rules like jumping red lights or wrong overtaking, young filmmaker Shashi Varma has directed two short films, Ahsas and Afsos that have been made like feature films.
“These films have been shot in Mumbai, the third one we’re shooting in Delhi. Each will throw light on major traffic mishaps happening around the country,” says Shashi, adding that International Road Federation Chairman K.K. Kapila inspired and extended wholehearted support to him.
There will be 18 documentaries based on road safety, which are still in the pipeline. Each documentary has an articulate and effective social message including contravening rules of driving, driving in an inebriated state and driving recklessly at high speed, each documentary has an articulate and effective social message. While Afsos is on hospitals’ long procedure while undertaking accident cases, Ahsas depicts the consequences of drunken driving. “People don’t escort the victim to hospitals because the police bombards them with complicated queries. I want to drive home the point that even your family member can receive injuries in an accident. So let us not wait for others to help accident victims,” he adds.
