The first and last tour to India
If buzz is to be believed then electronic dance music band Swedish House Mafia could well be on their way to India this year as part of their final world tour. The prominent DJ super group consists of three house disc jockeys and producers, Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso.
In 2011, Swedish House Mafia proved to the world that the EDM industry was big enough to compete with Jay-Z or Phish in the world’s biggest venues. Their December 16 show at Madison Square Garden sold 20,000 tickets in nine minutes flat. The band that officially got together in 2008 recently announced their dissolution and that their current world tour would be their last together. According to sources, the band’s last leg of their world tour will commence in November and they have expressed a desire to visit India during Diwali. In fact, their band is in constant touch with Nikhil Chinapa to explore this possibility. Speaking from the other end of the globe, the band said in an official statement, “Axwell has been telling us for years to visit India. We have been watching from afar and he has already played and says it’s one of the most vibrant scenes in the world. We are working hard with Nikhil to make that a reality and bringing our last tour to India for the first time.”
