Food that goes down the drain
LeanPath, a US technology company (leanpath.com), has introduced WasteLOGGER, a software solution for food waste tracking that helps a restaurant, hotel, caterer or foodservice operation prevent, minimise and avoid pre-consumer food waste.
The software runs on existing computers and does not require specialised tracking equipment. Previewed at the 2010 National Restaurant Show in Chicago recently, the software aims to address all kinds of waste, including those that result from overproduction, spoilage, expiration, etc.
Says Andrew Shakman, President and Co-Founder of LeanPath, Inc., “By tracking waste daily, operators can save over 2 to 4 per cent on food purchases, while also saving on disposal and labour costs and operating greener facilities.”
Founded in 2004, LeanPath, the pioneers of food waste tracking, offers several product solutions. Together, LeanPath WasteLOG-GER and the ValuWaste System allow restaurants and foodservice operations of all sizes to select the right tools to meet their tracking and auditing needs for food waste.
