While planning that perfect party for your friends, narrowing down on the food menu can be a reason to worry. The capital has no dearth of options in terms of eating joints. But won’t it be absolutely delightful to just go to a site and after scanning the menu of about 400 restaurants, pick your choice for the party. This is precisely what FoodPanda India intends to do for us.

“On a rainy weekend, my friends decided to come over to my place without prior notice. I had no clue what I could offer them for lunch! One of them informed me about this new site FoodPanda, where I could just order from an expansive list of restaurants. It saved my day,” said Nisha Lakhani, an IT Professional residing in South Delhi.
Launched two months ago in Gurgaon, this site plans to make ordering food for home delivery fast and hassle free for the consumers. “While staying abroad, I often had to order food from restaurants. It was here that the idea for having a single platform for ordering food from various restaurants, struck me. Back home, I realised that it was a good time to take the plunge and rest of the logistics fell into place,” says Amit Kohli, Co-Founder, FoodPanda India.
Co-founded along with Akhilesh Bali, the team comes with a strong technical experience. Amit has worked as a consultant with McKinsey and Akhilesh is an ISB alumus, who also has another start-up Mithaimate.com, India’s largest online sweets store. “Rather than frisking through numerous restaurants and repeating the process of providing contact details at each of them , one can call on our central delivery number or place the order online, and we’ll get the restaurant to deliver at your door step,” adds Akhilesh.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
