Fresh acoustic twist to hit singles
He is a hard rock-meets-alternative rock and acoustic artist, and he makes it a point to add a bit of his own arrangement to each song keeping the essence of the song intact. Meet young musician and a solo acoustic artist Tonuj, who believes that live performance is finally getting its share in Delhi and needs more encouragement.
The artiste recently performed at Raasta, where the music lovers swooned to his cover songs like Stand by me by Ben E King, Use somebody by KOL and Like a stone by Audioslave among other popular numbers.
Sharing about his style of music, Tonuj says, “I try to give people something fresh, innovative and something that is beyond what they have already heard. Be it an acoustic arrangement of an alternative rock song by Audioslave or a rock version of a pop single like Hit Me Baby One More Time by Britney Spears. Although I am a songwriter, yet I love to do covers.”
He believes the city is slowly opening to experiments in music. “Though there are people who do not like the voices I bring in my music, but then there are many others, who after performance come up to me and appreciate it. This is what keeps me going,” says Tonuj, admits that although having a band attracts a bigger fan following; being a solo artist gives him the freedom to make the kind of music he likes.
Unlike other artists, he does not want to come out with an album. He think that the best thing about being a musician is performing live, and speaking about his upcoming plans he mentions, “I plan to attend live music festivals like Zero Festival and Escape Festival, which are the right places for exposure in music.”
