Friends in need & deed

Friends in need & deed
Monday to Friday friendships, digital friends seen only on Facebook and TV serial Friends dishonour the very meaning of that ancient word. Friendship is much more than all this.
The International Friendship day on July 30 was proposed in 1958 in Paraguay. It is a day to celebrate the most beautiful human relationship in life — friendship. Friends acknowledge it with friendship bands, cards, letters or even a dinner.
Friendship day is about celebrating the joys of friendship. It is the day we honour buddies who stick with us through thick and thin, making us feel loved and cared for. True friends help us get through illness, financial disasters and hold us up when we are really down and out.
It is a day to thank your friends. Have you ever written a poem or a letter to a friend telling them how important they are to you? Do it on this occasion. Put together an album for each of the years you have known them. If you are a musician, write a piece of music in their name. If you are a cook, create a signature recipe in your friend’s name.
True friendship lasts a lifetime. It is also life’s greatest source of social, intellectual and creative stimulation. Today when time comes at a premium, friends give you time. You do the same!

‘Olive therapy boosts physical strength’
Omrita
Dear Omrita,
I am 58 years old and overweight. Whenever I feel emotionally upset, I cannot stop eating and later feel very guilty. Please suggest some medicine.
Sukhwinder Kaur

Dear Sukhwinder,
You may combine three therapies, namely cherry plum, crab apple and chestnut bud to cure your problem. Cherry plum will help you remain in control, crab apple will help you feel better about yourself and chestnut bud will help you make better choices towards a healthier lifestyle. Mix two drops each in half a glass of water and have it three times a day, till you feel healed.

Dear Omrita,
I am just 20 years old but feel very aged. I have to do many things in life but I feel very tired all the time. Please suggest names of some medicine to make me strong physically.
Anonymous
Dear Anonymous,
You may take olive therapy, four drops three times a day diluted in water for two weeks. Do not take any food for 15 minutes before and after taking the therapy. I am sure it will work to bring you good health.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
