Fun time on the rocks

From Drink Like a Fish to Beer Bungee, or laughing it off with Who S***, there are so many drinking games you can play and have fun at home with friends on a Sunday afternoon.

TV show host and actor Ranvijay Singh swears by the I Have Never drinking game. “Since the idea is to get drunk, so why not do it while having a lot of fun,” he says. I Have Never is one of the many card-based drinking games which helps break the ice and challenge you with funny, wild, and crazy questions. A similar game is the Family Guy Dice, where players have to follow whatever the dice tells them.
“What I really like about these games is that they are not just fun but also help you know the people you are drinking with well,” he adds. Although a teetotaller, whenever actress Meghna Naidu is out with her friends, she never loses out on the fun. “We play lots of games such as the Snakes and Ladders, Jenga tiles or simply Truth or Dare. In Jenga, every tile has a mission in it. If you fail to do that you have to take a shot,” says Meghna, adding, “But I like Truth or Dare the most. You can get so much truth out of a person; it’s just so much fun.”
However, actress Shweta Bhardwaj feels Truth or Dare gets very personal at times, and prefers to switch to the Coin Tossing dare app on her iPad. “There are so many apps like that which makes drinking fun. Whenever you toss, the coin asks for a dare or to tell a truth, if you don’t you have to take a shot. And they are all fun dares — like for instance, one dare is to make an underwear of toilet paper and wear it all night or something like sharing your T-shirt with the person sitting next to you. It’s lot of fun,” she says.
Twenty-eight-year-old copywriter Snigdha Saigal loves Drinking Roulette and tic -tac-toe, which is a drinking board game with her girlfriends. “It’s a great way to unwind, and you should hear us gossip once we’ve got a few drinks inside us! It’s all quite harmless of course, and it gives us a chance to have a good laugh, act a little silly and generally charge up for another week of drudgery at work,” she says.
Snigdha says most of these games, even when played without any alcoholic beverage, can be fun. “If you need to be sober, then you simply replace the alcohol with a nice mocktail, and it’s still as much fun,” she says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
