When he entered the industry with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, he was immediately declared “too chocolaty” for our palates. But after revealing his rugged side in films like Rajneeti, Rockstar, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year and slipping in roles like that of Barfi and Sid (Wake up Sid) with ease, Kapoor scion and Bollywood’s blue-eyed boy Ranbir has not only displayed his versatility but also shown his potential as a performer and his affinity for challenges.

Ranbir Kapoor charmed the media-turned-fan club when he along with the star cast of his upcoming film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani spoke about it at a press briefing in the capital.
Ranbir while talking about his role mentioned that it wasn’t easy playing Bunny in YJHD. “When I do films like Barfi! and Rockstar, the characters are very well defined. They have a certain prototype to the way they talk or dress. I can easily hide behind the character. But it gets hard to play Bunny in YJHD or Akash in Anjaana Anjaani,” he said.
But he had a ball shaking a leg with Madhuri Dixit for Ghagra. In fact it was a dream come true for him. “Everybody dreams of dancing with Madhuri. So it was an opportunity I couldn’t have missed and I am very happy about it.”
Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapoor, who accompanied him in making it a fun afternoon recalled the pranks that Ranbir pulled on the sets as they addressed the media. “He is very naughty. He brings a lot of energy to the sets. It was fun working with him and everybody,” said Aditya, who also revealed that he gets recognised a bit more after his recent hit Aashiqui 2.
Deepika, who shared the screen with Ranbir around four years ago for Bachna Ae Haseeno, picked YJHD for Ranbir, Ayan Mukherjee (the director) and the script. She said, “I am glad that this film brought us together after Bachna… We have put our heart and soul in this film and we want people to watch it four to five times,” she said.
So, will the audience get to see them together for another film? “Only if she has the dates,” remarked Ranbir and added, “I hope we work again in future but as we all know Deepika is on the brink of superstardom. She has so many films lined up. If she has the time for me, then why not?”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
