When it comes to travelling and adventure sports, everyone has their own bucket list. However, won’t it be awesome if life gives you a chance to strike off all the wishes at one go? Well, for the five beauties — Barbara Mori, Yana Gupta, Archana Vijaya, Diandra Soares and Kirat Bhattal — it was a once in a lifetime journey to Cape Town, South Africa when they got a chance to shoot the second season of Fox Traveller’s Life Mein Ek Baar. The girls share their experiences and excitement about this exotic trip.

For model and VJ Archana Vijaya, the 18-day stay at various locations of South Africa was her dream come true. She says, “On this trip I tried out all the adventure sports I wanted to do. It was an experience of a lifetime, where I met and spent some great time with four wonderful women. We bonded like old friends and each one was very supportive of the other contestant. For the first time in my life I tried the shark cave dive and got hit by a shark right in my face. I even learned how to squab dive and now I am a certified diver.”
Adding to her list, Archana adds, “I got a chance to learn pole dancing, which is very tough in reality and requires great skills. While trying out extreme sports, I met with an accident as well. I went on a long cycle ride on the road, and since the wind was so strong I lost my balance and collided with a car. I got hurt but that didn’t stop me and I cycled till the Cape of Good Hope, but the end result was totally breathtaking.”
Whereas for model Kirat Bhattal, this adventure trip was a mixed bag full of adventure sports and partying with her girl pals. She recalls, “Although the key focus will be on high adrenaline activities, all five of us had a great time shooting together. We motivated each other to try out the extreme sports and there was no negativity. I tried skydiving for the first time, and it was so awesome that I would recommend it to everyone. I knew Archana from before and she suggested my name for this trip, other than that Diandra, Barbara and Yana were also great companions.”
Runway model Diandra Soares, who revealed that since she is a big fan of animals and always wanted to swim with seals she tried that in this show. She says, “Apart from trying out various adventure sports, I tried something very different in South Africa. I swam with over 200 seals in an island and it was such an amazing experience. I observed that seals swim so effortlessly that it looks like they are in a trance. We had a blast and I even tried bungee jumping and fulfilled all my adventure sports wish list.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
