Gamers bat for online cricket

This has been a most disappointing season for Indian cricket fans. With action missing on the field, fans are looking for their dose of excitement online. World’s first cricket card game, Cricardo, which was launched recently has given cricket enthusiasts a reason to smile.
You can play live match with online players. The match proceeds in various rounds, the player who drops highest scoring card in a round wins the round and the player with maximum scores wins the match.
Bharat, a student of IILM, says what makes this one completely different from other games on cricket is that you can play both cards and cricket together. “You get to connect with others online who play the game with you. And above all, the updates of this game are readily available. I have it on my mobile and it’s totally addictive,” he says.
What’s more exciting is that the game helps you play in two formats, unlike other cricket games. “The game can be played in two formats viz Super Sixes and T10 matches. I can now play a live match with online gamers and make maximum runs to win it,” adds avid gamer Utsav Kapoor. Also, you get to select your own overs after which you enter a table and wait for other players online to join. “Now that’s the exciting part. We are a nation that loves both cards and cricket, so the combo is exciting. I love the fact that we can choose our overs. They have given cricket a completely twisted face. You can choose to play between T3 (3 overs game), Super Sixes (6 overs game) and T10 match (10 overs game),” says Anjali, a BPO employee.
“The most thrilling factor about cricket is winning the game. There are two things that every Indian cricket fan craves for, one is watching India win, the other is playing the game on field. So the basic idea was to capture the user motivation and make it look like a live game to them,” says Rahul Razdan, president, Products & Operations, ibibo web (p) Ltd.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
