GenY looking forward to Boyle-Rahman reunion
The formidable duo of Danny Boyle and AR Rahman, who swept the Oscars two years back, have teamed up once again for the former’s upcoming venture, 127 Hours. The film that has already bagged three nominations at the Golden Globes; including the title of Best Original Score, has exorcised the dreamrun of Slumdog Millionaire among Rahman fans in the city. And those who have seen the promos are anxiously awaiting the January 28 release with a hope that the Boyle-Rahman team can recreate magic with their much awaited reunion.
Youngsters in the city are gung-ho about what the film has to offer. Gunjan Piplani, a media professional, avers, “It looks promising and I hope their return recreates magic. 2010 had been a bad year for Rahman, but I think he will be back with a bang with this one.” Seconds, Ajay Shukla, an investment banker, “The rushes are simply awesome and if it goes on to become a hit, then Rahman will certainly get credit for it. Just like the soundtrack for Slumdog was believed to play an important part in the film’s success.”
127 Hours is based on the true story of mountain climber, Aron Ralston (played by James Franco), and his adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder that crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah, USA. And besides the gritty tale that is a bestseller in the form of Ralston’s account in the book — Between a Rock and a Hard Place, many are looking forward to seeing how Rahman contributes to a plot that doesn’t have as much space for dance-music as Slumdog Millionaire.
Satyam Sahu, an MNC employee, says, “Slumdog Millionaire had the scope for a proper movie album and soundtrack (and not just a background score) and had the song and dance routines that are every Indian composer’s forte. It will be interesting to see how Rahman goes about creating the background score for 127 Hours’ plot this time around. I’ll be looking forward to seeing Indian rhythm and sounds in it.”
