Now read bestsellers on your mobile phones. With a unique feature of digital books on mobile option, RockASAP, a mobile commerce website, has recently launched an application at the 14th New Delhi World Book Fair.
RockASAPs ‘E-Book’ search engine empowers users to search for their favourite books, authors and products from the wide collection of digital books available at the website. They have tied up with more than 20 publishers as well as various national and international authors in various categories.
Prem Prakash, associate vice-president, Handygo technology, a parent company of RockASAP shares, “The new application E-books has been launched to encourage reading among youngsters, who are mostly busy socialising on Facebook or Twitter on their tablets or mobiles. So, besides lifestyle and gadgets, avid book readers can download their favourite books at half the prices.”
Prakash adds, “The application has introduced books by eminent authors including Anupam Kher’s new book The Best Thing About You Is You, Chetan Bhagat’s novels, books by Pawan Varma and Kapil Sibal’s poetry book among others. Many publishers like Hay House, HarperCollins, Pustak Mahal, Wisdom Tree are a part of it. It will be easy to carry and quick to download and read. We are yet to launch more than 15 to 20 writers and their book on the application. It won’t be a library of books, but we only want to focus on best-sellers and the hottest selling books.”
Avid readers are excited to download the application. Swati Modo, shoe designer and avid book lover, says, “It’s a super-cool application, as gone are the days when I picked up a novel to read. These days my gadgets keep me busy. With this application, one can scroll through book pages anytime and I can even read it between my BB chats. Moreover, I do not have to overburden my handbags with the weight of books.”
And for Veta Ratra, a PR professional, the application will make things simpler. “Through this app, you can select a book in minutes. It will make book reading fun, quick and interactive,” she sums up.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
