Gifts with a thought make special love statement
While most men shower their wives with jewellery or expensive holidays, James Righton gifted something unique to wife Keira Knightley during their wedding in Mazan, France. The Klaxons keyboard player gifted his new wife a 100-year-old olive tree he planted in the backyard of their home in France, The Sun reported. As an extra romantic touch, he even carved their initials and wedding date into the bark before presenting it to her during the ceremony.
While James sets an example of going for a different approach, some Delhi celebrities narrate how their better halves swept them off their feet with some ‘unimaginable and most romantic’ presents that they cherish till date.
Model Amanpreet Wahi feels her ‘big, fat, Indian wedding’ remains the most special present from husband Raghav. “I always wanted a big fat Indian wedding and always requested Raghav for a big wedding. While my family suggested me to settle for a low-key affair, my heart was always set on grand celebrations. Despite knowing all this, Raghav did not say no and organised one of the most lavish weddings with the best DJ, décor and food all through ten ceremonies we had. I enjoyed the whole show like a perfect bridezilla and still can’t thank Raghav for that. Another most memorable present is my engagement ring. I wanted a five carat diamond and Raghav worked really hard to get me that,” speaks Amanpreet about her fairytale wedding.
One of the recent ones to get married, designer Sakshee Pradhan says her husband Abhishek proved to be very romantic when he privately gifted her a gold dipped flower during the wedding ceremony. “It is not any ordinary rose, it was the first flower that I gifted Abhishek. It was so romantic and thoughtful of him to preserve that rose which is symbolic of beginning of our relationship,” says Sakshee, who prefers personalised gift to anything monetary.
“We all get expensive gifts but a gift with a special memory surpasses everything. I know I am going to value this rose all my life,” she adds.
Singer Shibani Kashyap, who married Rajiv Roda in February this year, says the special time she got from her husband is the most memorable wedding present. “The time he spent with me helping me shopping is the most memorable gift. He sat through the whole time and would click pictures of me trying jewellery or outfit. I guess I rate that togetherness over everything he gifted me,” says Shibani, who later got a ruby ring from Rajiv. “It is a beautiful ring and Rajiv knew that I always wanted to have that, and he made sure I got that.”
Designer Mandira Wirk says husband Hardy gave her a whole family — that of dogs. “Hardy always knew that I was passionate for dogs and would want to make a my own little zoo some day. So, at our wedding, he gifted me a family of dogs — a pug and two English bulldogs. They remain the best gift I could get and are an important part of my life. I still tell my friends that these dogs are as old as my marriage and they keep reminding me of the beautiful day. Hardy gave me a family which is symbolic of our love. All he did not gift me is a mini elephant I wanted. It too shall come some day,” ends Mandira.
