Goa’s best drink: The King’s beer
The long winding beaches, xacutti and feni may be synonymous with Goa. But anyone who loves a good drink and has been to this beach state cannot have returned without praise for the Monarch of Goan beers: King’s.
This beer, which unfortunately is only brewed and sold in the state of Goa, is a highlight of any trip there. Recognised by its stubby bottle, King’s is mild and therefore, pairs very well with a lot of the local cuisine that is meat-rich and spice heavy.
The King’s Black Label premium pilsner is a very light tasting, pale coloured, beer that is known for its smoky malt aroma. It has an alcohol content of 4.85 per cent, and has 0.5 percent less alcohol content than normal beers. Bartenders feel the combination of a lighter than usual pilsner and greasy seafood consumed on the beachfront makes it an ideal beer for tourists in Goa. Of course the competitively priced liquor in Goa makes buying King’s a rather easy option for a beer connoisseur. So the next time you’re holidaying there, don’t forget to order one of these stubbies.
