Gorgeous head to toe

There’s more to you than your face. In this holiday season, which is marked by strappy, off-shoulder dresses and sleeveless tops, it’s as important to do up your arms and legs with the same care that you lavish on your face and neck.
According to experts, the place to start is to ensure that your skin is free of infections or rashes before you begin. Remove all the dead cells by exfoliating once a week, this also helps to reduce incidents of breakouts on the limbs. Dr Sejal Shah, a skin specialist, says, “Go in for a massage at least once a month to de-stress your skin and when you exfoliate, pay special attention to your arms, knees and other dark spots.”
The oppressive summer heat makes acne a very common feature in this season. “Use a product containing salicylic acid on your back. This is available in the form of body washes, which help control acne. For the rest of your body, moisturise often and use a water-based solution to prevent pores from clogging.
“Some salons also offer back polishing treatments which are a good investment,” she adds.
Of course, all these will not guarantee a flawless body because experts point out that other factors like stress and diet can cause the skin to react.
“Dust some translucent powder on your arms and legs, even on your décolletage. If these are severe, then first use a concealer or mix a drop of liquid foundation with moisturiser and apply evenly. Something else that you can do, especially in the evenings, is apply a bronzer, this will give your skin a good sheen and make it glow, but be sure to select the right one for your skin tone,” suggests Savio, a celebrity make-up artiste. He advises using foundation or bronzer on dark spots because areas like elbows and knees tend to become very dry.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
