Gotye loved to croon for Delhi fans
Australian artist Gotye has recently bagged three trophies at the 55th Grammys — Record of the Year and pop/duo group performance for his song Somebody That I Used to Know and for his album, Making Mirrors. We caught up with the singer and talked about the Grammys and his recent trip to India.
The singer says, “I’d only watched the awards once, last year on television, so I was pretty unfamiliar but now I figured it for the first time that it is really big. I don’t really like that aspect of hundreds of cameras constantly on you, and just random screaming. Not that my exit of a limo tends to prompt that from teenage music fans, it tends to be reserved for the Taylor Swifts of the world. I was quite nervous yet excited.â€
Talking about his performance, which was a part of the Oz fest, in the capital, Gotye says, “The response from the Delhi crowd was over-whelming.â€
Speaking about his connect with India, the Australian singer and songwriter says, “I have heard Pandit Ravi Shankar’s music. I have watched a few Bollywood films, so I have picked on some Bollywood music. Otherwise it is just elements like the sitar or the tabla incorporated with other instruments.â€
