Gurgaon Metro fails to charm commuters
Commuters who opted for the Metro on the new line Qutub Minar to HUDA City Centre, Gurgaon in the last two days, don’t seem very happy with the experience. They thought the Metro will make their commuting from Gurgaon to Delhi or vice-versa easier, but they were disappointed with the problems they faced during the ride.
Most commuters were very unhappy when their mobile phones showed no signal while they were in the train. Says one of the commuters and a network professional Ashish Malhan, “Most of my work is done over the phone. I took the Metro to experience the service, but was disappointed and irritated when there was no network on my cellphone.” He hopes that Metro officials will soon do something about this problem.
Akshay Tomar, one of the commuters’ says that unlike other Metro lines on which trains come within 4-5 minutes, on this route the frequency of trains is 12 minutes. “It is time consuming. You get a cab in lesser time than this. Also, trains will not go further from Qutub Minar thus causing trouble for commuters like us who have to go ahead. And there are no feeder buses also. For now, a cab is a better option for me, than the Metro,” he says.
However, there are commuters who are still rejoicing. “The service to the line has just started. The HUDA City Centre is still under construction. We need to give time to officials. Even when the Noida/Anand Vihar route started, there were glitches. But now trains run on time making commuting easier for people. Even this will fall in place in some time. Instead of cribbing, the public should cooperate,” says Anamika Singh, a commuter.
