‘Holy’ vibes stoked
For Swati Pasari, her canvas is a means to spread happiness, positivity and all things beautiful. An optimist at heart and believer in the divine, she uses her masterstrokes as a tool to brush off the negatives. Through the use of bright colours, dancing figures and fluid strokes the artist wishes to transport you to a peaceful-happy abode in her latest exhibition, The Dance of Life.
“There’s no point if a work of art sits pretty in your living space without lending a vibe to it. It should transform the space around it — physically and metaphorically and make its presence felt in more ways than being an inanimate object,” says Swati who believes that her use of colours captures a host of emotions and moods. “Every colour carries a certain vibe and sets off a certain emotion. By blending all of them together I have tried to create an eclectic palette of not just colours but also emotions in my paintings,” she adds.
While the figures seem to be swaying to the music of life, one can’t seem to say the same about their faces. Devoid of expressions and features, Swati’s faceless muses carry a very profound message. “It represents the fact that you don’t need to see the divine, hear it, smell it or touch it. It transcends the boundaries of physicality. All you need to do is sense it, breathe it and live it,” says Swati who first started painting images of lord Ganesha, Shiva and Buddha before she went on to experimenting with more abstract subjects.
As a combination of a spiritual healer with artistic inclinations, Swati believes her lure towards painting the Lords was a natural call. “Art for me love, poetry, freedom, happiness, positivity, well being…the list can go on. It is only natural that I pay tribute to the power that gifted me with these things in my works,” she concludes.
