Hosting good times
For this young and inventive young lady, the world is definitely an oyster that is waiting to be explored. And she does explore it with aplomb as she travels from one destination to the other, with Gucci handbag in hand, clothed in designer finery, always on the look out for an idea or an inspiration to make an evening out of.
And when she finally does get back, she’s brimming with themes. Meet Anisha Bhandary, an old Bengalurean, popular hostess and new-about-town lady who’s most recent oomph-filled Christian Dior private dinner left guests in awe.
And if history speaks a thousand words, Anisha ensures that you get those words right where you are, with her interest in antiques and yesteryear knick-knacks.
From an eclectic interest in antiques and a curious mind, the lady is now preparing a trip to Goa for the Think Fest, “I am going to the Think Fest in Goa and really looking forward to it. I was there last year too and this year, the agenda is truly inspirational. Even though I am going just as an observer, it will be interesting to see the moderators speak about their lives, work and life and hear different mindsets. Sometimes, you’d like to enter the private realm of an inventor or great thinker’s life and this fest is all about opening your mind to different possibilities.” So what are the things that she is most excited about? “The controversial MP George Galloway will be there and I am looking forward to hearing him speak, apart from that Anna Hazare, the inventor of DNA and another scientist who discovered innumerous viruses will be speaking. But the best part will be listening to Bob Geldof perform,” she says.
Ask her about her interest in antiques and she pipes, “I used to deal in antiques earlier and then the markets went through a rough time. But the interest still remains — there is a story behind each piece and I love to delve into that.” And about the dinners and private dos she’s known to host, she says, “Now with events too, there are so many stories unfolding, be it the Chistian Dior private dinner that was extremely exclusive where there were no invites and everyone was privately invited. The dishes were flown in from Paris and the food was gourmet. I also did an event for Jimmy Choo, and most of these brands have their own stories and what they want to share with their clientele.”
For now though, travel is what keep the lass running between cities and opens her mind to myriad possibilities, “There is a special restaurant in London called L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon. It’s a two-starred Michelin restaurant where everything has a thought behind it. These are some of the places that create their own context in my work.”
