Hum honge... in hip-hop avatar
Probably the most inspirational song of all times, Hum Honge Kamyab has been given a modern, hip-hop avatar, and that too for a good cause.
Created by Kunal Avanti and Megan Murray from Network Prive Productions, the video is a part of the social media initiative, beasportcampaign.com which aims to create awareness about underprivileged kids through motivating videos.
“When we decided to rework Kamyab…, we knew exactly what we wanted from it in terms of making an impact. We knew that there are many sentiments attached to this popular song, so we had to be very careful so as not to annoy anyone. We’ve all sung this song in school and I for one would hate for someone to come in and ruin that. The idea was to recreate the feeling, while keeping the sentiment and spirit of the song intact,” says Kunal.
But would this hip-hop rendition actually bring the youth closer to this timeless anthem, and make them think about the cause?
“We definitely wanted to get a slightly international edge to it to make it more appealing to an international audience. I knew what I wanted it to sound like in my head, and then it was just a question of getting the right people on board to execute it,” adds Kunal.
Music director of the song, Prasad Ruparel thinks that the youth of the country are going to connect with the song in a different way. “The song has been created keeping in mind the taste of the new generation and we believe it’s going to be a hit with them,” he says.
