Though it was the first time Alia Bhatt was walking the ramp, she still sizzled at the finale of Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week in the city recently. Wedding might not be on the cards anytime soon for the actress who shot to fame with her successful debut Student Of The Year, but Alia says she dreams of getting married in a Manish Malhotra’s outfit.
“I love his designs. Not just my wedding trousseau, I would want him to design costumes for all the other ceremonies as well. Since I love bright colours, maybe hues of blue and pink is what I would opt for my big day,” smiles Alia. When it comes to wedding, Alia insists that her motto is ‘less is more’. “I believe instead of the wedding outfit and all the jewellery, what should glow most is your face. As a bride I would like to keep it as elegant as possible. I am not a fan of neckpieces, I would wear it if it goes with the costume,” says Alia.
Though she was a showstopper for Azva’s new collection of gold bridal jewellery and paired her gown with gold neckpiece, bracelet and earrings, Alia confesses she is not very found of wearing jewellery. “On a usual day you might find me wearing a ring or two. I love rings, especially large ones. But otherwise I like to keep it simple. I believe a stylish person is not the one who is wearing a lot of accessories and dressed up in designer costumers but someone who is comfortable and elegant. Comfort is the most essential aspect of being stylish,” says Alia who also advises against blindly following the trends. She continues, “Style is a glimpse of your inner self. As you grow your personality changes and so does your style and the way you carry yourself. Therefore, adapting to myself is my style mantra.” Alia dons both Indian and western attire with the same ease, however, she says she feels more beautiful in Indian wear.
Alia is eagerly waiting for the release of her two upcoming films. Talking about her de-glam look in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway opposite Randeep Hooda, Alia confesses to be nervous while facing the camera without makeup. “But I guess I am nervous about almost everything. I believe nervousness is good. It pushes you to give your best and keeps you on edge. Over all, it was a very different experience going de-glam on-screen,” says Alia.
While the rumours of linkup with her co-star Arjun Kapoor from Two States are doing the rounds, Alia seems unfazed by the controversy. In fact the actress reinforces the fact that she shares a very strong and friendly bond with Arjun. “These speculations do not affect us. I am not going to hide the fact that I am friends with Arjun. We are having a memorable time shooting for the film and director Abhishek Kapoor is a great person to work with. I am super excited about this film as I loved the book by Chetan Bhagat,” says Alia. When asked what she likes to do in her free time, Alia wraps up saying she loves to sleep, which is a luxury considering her hectic schedule, and workout to stay in shape.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
