IPL on your plate!

IPL in our country is not just another event but also a cricket festival. Celebrating the spirit of this grand fiesta, many restaurants in the city are offering IPL inspired menus, themes and interesting bargains.
Second Sin has come up with two exciting in-house leagues for its patrons. “We have two leagues with vodka and beer. Since vodka and beer are in high demand during cricket leagues, we thought of coming up with an interesting competition using the two drinks and the team with maximum consumption of that specific drink will win. We will announce winners at the IPL series. When IPL starts off, the first two weeks are really slow, so this is to make the series interesting from the beginning itself,” says Kushagrah Nagrath, COO, Second Sin.
Along with that, they have also changed the décor to suit the IPL theme and the theme of their own league. The decor will have colours of beer making countries, etc.
Others have altered their menus and twisted the names to suit the names of IPL teams and sportspersons. For instance, at cultural lounge 567 in Green Park, you will have a deal called ‘Stumped’, which gives you unlimited IMFL/beers/sheeshas and a choice of one veg/non-veg starter for `1,299. And then there’s an offer called ‘Spin’ under which you can avail unlimited IMFL/beers/sheeshas for `999 from first ball to last ball. “Everyday throughout 54 days we would have a special Captains Drinks menu with a special price of `199. The drinks have been named after their famous nicknames,” says Nikhil, marketing head, 567.
And you also get an opportunity to vent your anger if your favourite batsman is not performing well. They have an Anger Management Therapy, under which, while the match is on, you could brake lates, glasses, bowls and release your frustration. Of course and pay a price for it!
At Bonsai in Connaught Place, there are packages against names of cricketers. For instance, there’s a package called Dhoni package in which one can get six beers and one starter for `599. “We also have deals clubbing two players. For instance Dhoni and Suresh Raina are in Chennai Super Kings so you will have six beers and one starter for just `950,” says Uma Shanker Prasad, manager Bonsai.
Talking about interesting menus, some places don’t just have recipes named after players but appetisers and drinks too. At 1440 – The 24 Hour Lounge & Café, you’ll have Zaheer Khan seekh, Dhoni’s burger, Cheer leader special, Devils fish. Not just that, they also have Special pitchers like Knock Out, master blaster, over the top, Helicopter shot.
So while you wait for the IPL to start, go ahead and book your table with deals that suit you best!
