From salons in the country that are now offering facials with the precious metal to international five star hotel spas that let you experience an uplifting body wrap — composed entirely of gold, this is one indulgence that seems to have more takers than one might expect. Experts say gold has a restorative, strengthening and rejuvenating effect on the skin, and is an anti-ageing agent as well.

If you were to go in for a 24 carat gold facial, a professional would first thoroughly cleanse your face, followed by an application of a facemask made of gold. The result: Luminous (no surprises there!) skin. Globally, if you were to visit a spa that follows the principle of administering treatments according to the element you embody the most (earth, fire, water etc), those who represent the “metal” element are
generally advised to undergo treatments using 24 carat gold.
Of course, all this comes at a heavy price. But in this case, at least what glitters is gold.
