Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who will soon be sharing the screen with a big star cast in her next release, Abbass-Mustan’s Race 2, is unperturbed about being overshadowed by senior actors like Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham.

“It doesn’t bother me a bit to work with the popular names of the industry. In fact, working with a multi-star ensemble makes you learn so much. You learn to co-operate and work together as a team,” she said when she was in the city for the launch of Tanishq’s new collection.
Talking about her experience of sharing the screen with Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline says, “I know Deepika is a bigger star than me. But she is talented, extremely focussed and a very down-to-earth girl. Sharing space with her was a great learning experience.”
With two successful films, Murder 2 and Housefull 2 in her kitty, Jacqueline sees achievement as an add-on responsibility. “Success makes you more responsible. I guess it pushes you to work harder. It doesn’t change you as a person,” she said.
The actor plays the role of a con artist in Race 2, and has got herself a new look for the film. “I have a fringe with poker-straight hair, which gives me a youthful grunge-like look. As my character is supposed to look physically strong, I had to learn a little bit of gymnastics and also trained slightly in martial arts,” she says.
Jacqueline has shied away from talking about beau Sajid Khan, but the buzz is that she’s doing a cameo in his next film Himmatwala.
Sharing about her love for the capital, Jacqueline says, “Delhi is a paradise for shopaholics like me. I love the hustle-bustle of Delhi streets.”
Wishing a happy New Year, Jacqueline says, “Make sure you spend it with family and friends and spread the spirit of joy and sharing.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
