Jiah’s all set for a funky role

After making a much controversial entry in the industry with her film Nishabd, actress Jiah Khan might not have been very active in the film circuit but she claims she will be back with a bang soon, having signed a three-film deal.

“I recently signed a three-film deal with iRock Films and will start shooting for the first film very soon,” says the actress, while in the city to launch Ferns And Petals’ first flagship store at Mehrauli, Gurgaon,
She is excited to work with a very young team. “The script has been written by a very young team of writers and it is a very youth-oriented film. The moment I heard the script I immediately said yes since it’s the kind of funky story I had been waiting for,” says Jiah, who has lost weight for the film.
“It’s a very interesting role and I needed to look thinner for it. And these days it’s almost essential to make sure that you fulfil all the criteria to suit the character,” says Jiah. Does she think film roles demand a lot many sacrifices from actors? We keep hearing about actors who put on or lose weight for a particular role. However, Jiah says that Bollywood actors do not really go through the rigorous training for a role the way Hollywood actors do.
“Daniel Day-Lewis prepared for the role for almost a year for his Oscar-winning performance in Lincoln. I believe actors in Bollywood don’t really put in so much effort to prepare for roles,” says Jiah, who adds that so far she has enjoyed her first film Nishabd with Amitabh Bachchan the most. However, as she is busy preparing for her upcoming films Jiah says that she is also busy with trying her hand at cooking.
“I am a foodie and love Indian food. I have just perfected chicken curry while I am trying out many other dishes,” says Jiah, who adds that she loves coming to the city because of its delicious food and historical ambience. “I never really had the opportunity to visit all the historical places in the city. But I would love to do so and hopefully will come back soon with enough time for sightseeing,” wraps up Jiah.
