John aspires to direct films
Actor John Abraham is a proud man these days. He got rave reviews for his portrayal of Manya Surve in Shootout at Wadala, his debut film as a producer Vicky Donor took home three National Awards. He has got the best body in the industry and his enviable humility only adds to his charm.
The actor is pretty excited about his second home production Madras Cafe, helmed by Shoojit Sircar, who proved with Vicky Donor that with the right content and execution, a small film could do big wonders.
“Madras Cafe is a political thriller and I am quite confident of it. I have full faith in Shootjit’s direction and it’s a pleasure working with him. I hope people will appreciate it,” said John, who was recently in the city to launch the male grooming range from Philips.
Shootout at Wadala opened a new chapter in John’s life as it not only silenced his critics but also announced his arrival as a bankable star. John added that Shootout at Wadala is his answer to his critics and those who have always tried to pull him down. “I have only one thing to say to them, ‘I have done this, now please let’s move on.’ I don’t regret my decisions. I have matured with every film I have done. Also if you are a creative person, you get appreciated as well as criticised. In my opinion if one has to grow, one should be open to criticism and use it to enhance one’s skills,” he said.
After tasting success with his maiden production venture and enjoying the freedom one gets as a producer, John now dreams of donning the director’s hat.
“I did not have that freedom as an actor, but being a producer, I have the freedom to do the kind of cinema I really want to do. I even want to direct films now,” he revealed.
