John pumps up his filmy dream

Actor John Abraham means serious business as a producer. And that’s why he handled his first baby with enough care and affection. The result also bore fruits as his maiden shot at the celluloid — Vicky Donor — did set a benchmark for his future brood.
Understanding the dynamics and nuances of production is a heavy-duty job no doubt. And to execute the task like a true blue pro, the Bollywood heartthrob had left no stone unturned to offer a perfect launchpad to director Shoojit Sircar’s last outing behind the camera, early this year. “For me, testing the waters as a producer was far more important in the beginning than donning the greasepaint,” confides an honest John.
Besides films, the hunk has had a brush with ad commercials as well. “While filming an ad film project, we had a roughly 50 days’ shoot-schedule at a stretch. And it was extremely hectic. But you have got to deal with problems as and when they crop up. That was a learning experience for me I’d say,” he admits.
John is now bullish about his production dream, as the actor-turned-producer has a host of movies lined up ahead. He has also tied with Shoojit’s production house for the same. Reaping benefits from their past success-story, John wishes to retain the winning momentum with his previous team as it might augur well for their forthcoming projects as well. “Shoojitda and my production stable J.A. Entertainment Pvt. Ltd will breed films like Hamara Bajaj, Kala Ghoda and Jaffna,” he reveals.
And Ayushman is yet again on board for their next much-touted venture, Hamara Bajaj. This apart, three more films will be announced later from under John’s banner. But the stress will always be laid upon a good package of commercial films realised on smaller budgets.
Quite a plateful, isn’t it? Pump up some iron Johny boy!

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
