Kareena’s mujra tribute to Rekha

My mujra number in Agent Vinod is no match to Rekhaji’s style, but is a tribute to her,” said actor Kareena Kapoor, who was in the capital recently to unveil the first look of her first ever modern-day funky mujra, which is being touted as the highlight in Saif Ali Khan starrer Agent Vinod.
Kareena further added, “The song Dil mera muft ka has been choreographed by none other than Saroj Khan. It was a great experience, but the song gave me sleepless nights. When Dinesh proposed the idea of shooting a mujra number entirely on me, I was really nervous. But proper training and Saif’s encouragement helped me pull it off well.”
Dressed in a strapless green gown with a kundan necklace, Kareena said the song reminded her of her childhood.
“I was quite filmi as a kid and used to imitate Rekhaji and Madhuri’s expressions in front of the mirror, wearing a sharara and kajal. I think that really helped me bring out perfect ada and nazakat in the song,” she said with a smile. The song has been shot in Pakistan, which Kareena says is integral to the plot in the movie.
She feels that after size zero, mujra will be the new trend in the industry.
“With the touch of music of the past, the song is traditional and yet caters to youth of today with its funky tune. Everyone followed size zero after my look in Tashan, and item number in Don, mujra too is going to make a comeback very soon in the industry,” she said.
Even though she recently denied being a part of any action venture post Agent Vinod, Kareena rubbished such reports and said, “I’m a romantic person but I love watching action flicks. I love to do romantic films, but it’s not that I don’t enjoy action or will stop doing such films. I’m not quite good with stunts. Though Saif did all his stunts without body-doubles, I used to get petrified with all the stunts, especially those involving speed and guns. But it’s not that I will never do action films. If a good action film comes my way, I won’t mind trying it,” she said adding that Agent Vinod is her gift to Saif this Valentine’s Day.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
