Karisma livid with delay

With most B’town actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi choosing to make a comeback, Karisma Kapoor too didn’t want to be left behind. After appearing as a judge on several reality shows, Karisma made news a few months ago for taking up a full-fledged film with Vikram Bhatt, which is touted to be her ideal comeback film. And from the time she’s decided to don her acting hat again, Karisma’s been flooded with film offers.
Barring Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishq and Soham Shah’s Satte Pe Satta, Karisma turned down most of the other offers. While Vikram’s film is nearing completion, the latter seems to be in the lurch. The buzz is that Lolo hasn’t heard from the makers of Satte Pe Satta for a long time and she had allotted bulk dates for the remake of the blockbuster.
The actress, who has to manage her home, children and shooting schedules, is quite unhappy with the innumerable delays that the film has been going through. A few months ago, director Soham had confirmed that the film might not happen at all. But the stories about Karisma being signed by producer Sanjay Dutt meant that the film was being revived.
Omi Vaidya, who has also been signed for Satte Pe Satta, says that he too hasn’t got any updates. “We haven’t heard from the team at all. I was signed six months ago. But I haven’t been notified about any developments of late,” says Omi.
Karisma, on the other hand, is livid with the makers since she doesn’t know what’s happening with the film. “Karisma is a hands-on mother and allots her dates very carefully for films she chooses to work in. She could’ve signed another film rather than be kept waiting. It’s not fair to leave actors in the lurch like this and not even inform them about the developments. It’s basic professionalism and courtesy,” says our source. Meanwhile, the fate of the film continues to hang in suspence.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
