Kitty Su to jazz up nightlife
The night life in New Delhi got a facelift when Keshav Suri opened the doors of the 13,000 square foot Kitty Su night club at The Lalit. This club is promising to turn into one of the city’s most popular night spots.
Keshav Suri, son of Jyotsna and Lalit Suri, doyens of the hospitality business, showed little interest of entering the family hospitality business. His dream was to become a filmmaker and even study psychology. He ended up studying law and business in the UK instead.
Today, the 26-year-old Keshav is doing his parents proud as the Executive Director of the Bharat group of Hotels. It was about three years ago that Keshav decided to join his mum and three sisters and take to the family business when he found the city didn’t have the kind of nightlife other metros in the world had to offer. Keshav wanted to give the city a place where one could unwind and enjoy luxurious clubbing.
Kitty Su was conceived as an urban music shrine. Keshav wanted everything from tongue-in-cheek to naughty radical fun. While mother Jyotsna Suri was a little apprehensive, she was open to his ideas.
Keshav says Kitty Su amalgamates the sophistication of Audrey Hepburn and the grace of Maharani Gayatri Devi with a blend of his mother’s philosophies and a bit of him.
It has an exclusive A list area known as ‘The List’ complete with a mini-ramp and a Champagne lounge christened ‘The Dressing Room’ complete with its own share of unique merchandise. The bold and suggestive sculptures from Khajuraho depicting postures from the Kama Sutra adorn the Kitty Su.
At the launch party salwar clad aunties (his mum’s friends) along with socialites like Ayesha Thapar, Karisma Kapur’s husband Sanjay, Pushpanjali Sharma, Simran, Pernia Qureshi were seen hanging out with each other. And Keshav, fanning himself with a red fan was greeting everyone.
An excited Keshav says that the initial response to Kitty Su has been overwhelming. He is very confident of the growth of the hospitality industry and says that in the next five years, the nightlife of Delhi will be at par with Dubai, London and New York.
