Ladies, check out bibs

Who says bibs are only for babies? Necklaces that have incorporated this kiddy element are making the waves in the fashion world, and everyone from Mischa Barton to Sonam Kapoor is sporting them. Feathers, beads, rhinestones, rosettes, spikes — all find themselves in bib necklaces.
Model Dayana Erappa is a huge fan of accessories and loves how there is a diverse variety available in bib necklaces. “There’s one to suit every occasion. My favourite is a black metal bib necklace that I can wear to everything from a lazy lunch to an after-party. These neckpieces are easily available in the swanky malls as well as little shops and flea markets,” she says.
The biggest advantage of a bib necklace is that it is the quickest way to up your glam quotient without trying too hard. “It dresses up an outfit instantly. But you need to keep a few pointers in mind. It is a ‘no-no’ for big-busted women. Having a long, slim neck is a plus point. There’s nothing like it, if you have shoulder-length hair or bob to carry off a bib necklace,” says singer Avril Quadros who possesses a turquoise bib necklace from Turkey and a black stone and gold one from Hong Kong.
Bib necklaces complement clothes with a wide or deep neck. And if you plan to team one with a regular shirt and jeans/skirt, make sure you keep the top few buttons on the shirt open. “Wearing them with dresses in bold colours is a good bet. Floral bib necklaces look very elegant with a V-neck satin dress! Go easy on other accessories,” says designer Anu Nagappa.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
