Lisa goes all white on D-day

After Kareena Kapoor tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan amidst much fanfare, it’s time for actor Lisa Ray to seal the deal with her fiancé, Jason Dehni, a banking executive, in California tomorrow. The couple will be exchanging the vows in Napa Valley and the ceremony will be followed by a reception in India.

Lisa has planned to walk down the aisle in a Wendell Rodricks gown after which she will change into a traditional sari by Satya Paul.
Lisa and Wendell share a special bond that spans almost two decades. Lisa did a trial for the gown over a month ago. She came to Goa and spent three days with Wendell in his village. He tells us, “I have designed a wedding gown that both Lisa and I thought would bring out the best in her for her wedding day. It is a white wedding dress that will exude radiance, innocence, sensuality and beauty. This is my gift for her wedding.”
Whereas the Satya Paul off-white georgette sari is highlighted with shaded sequins and gota patti and is supposed to be teamed with a sheer blouse prettified using brocade and some more gota.
“We kept the sari glam yet celebratory but made sure it is still lightweight and easy to move in since it is a destination wedding. Lisa’s a very subtle person so the colour of the outfit matches her personality. It is a cocktail sari and also works well for a wedding reception,” says Pallavi Das, who created the outfit.
Although Wendell’s work is keeping him away from the ceremony, he wishes the couple a happy life ahead and says, “Lisa is a very strong and beautiful soul and she deserves all the happiness possible on her big day.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
