Lucky promotes non-filmi music
Lucky Ali says he enjoys taking it easy and not doing much work but what’s making the singer really happy is the new breed of musicians coming up with different ideas and making some exciting music.
“Young artistes are coming up with new kinds of ideas and creating some beautiful music that even I look forward to,” says Lucky Ali before his performance at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in the city recently.
He adds that he has been performing in various colleges to promote music among students while he is also busy working with musicians like Rajiv Bhalla and Vishal-Shekhar.
“I heard the latest album by Vishal-Shekhar and I was simply spellbound,” he says, adding that Bollywood doesn’t deserve the credit for their success.
“Bollywood doesn’t have the ability or sensibility to understand this kind of music. Even in films, there is a new breed of cinema cropping up which is separate from Bollywood and its typical ideas,” says Lucky.
He says that he is glad not to be a part of Bollywood and two of his films Kaante and Sur were actually an attempt to come out of Bollywood.
“Many new artistes who don’t want to be a part of Bollywood find other ways to support themselves. I try to help them get their share of credit and fame,” says Ali, who seems to be on a personal mission to promote non-Bollywood music and has many performances lined up in cities including Goa, Kolkata and Bangalore.
