Maddy makes a comeback
Bollywood has in the past, had enough examples to prove that if one flop film can take you down the abyss, one hit film has the capacity to elevate your career to dizzying heights. R. Madhavan is no exception to this. A big name in the Southern film industry Madhavan, or Maddy as he is fondly called, had to struggle for years together before he could carve a niche for himself in the world of Hindi films.
After the debacle called Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, the actor had to wait for years before hit films like Rang De Basanti and 3 Idiots came to his rescue and
bailed him out of the lull. While the two films did their share of good for Maddy, it was the stupendous success of the film Tanu Weds Manu with Kangna Ranaut that brought him back in the movie scene.
“Tanu Weds Manu changed my position and standing in the industry almost overnight,” he says adding “Suddenly the budgets of my films went up and the producers were willing to take the risk of casting a bigger actress opposite me in their films. Besides, bigger actresses also started being open about working with me. It was a magical time.”
Talking about the experience of working Bipasha, he says, “Working with Bips has been an amazing experience.” The actress has apparently told him that he makes for an ideal life partner, with a few alterations, of course. “Bips told me that she wants a younger and fitter version of me as a husband,” he laughs.
