Madhuri inspires B’wood newbie Tahira
Delhi-based Tahira Kocchar, Miss India 2010 finalist, is on a high these days, as she made her Bollywood debut with the recently released Rabba Main Kya Karoon, where she plays a girl-next-door.
Talking about the film, Tahira says, “The story of the film revolves around Akash Chopra, who is getting married in a typical ‘Big fat Indian wedding’ style in Delhi. His elder brother Arshad Warsi and his three mamas Paresh Rawal, Tinnu Anand and Shakti Kapoor teach him the key to a happy married life. Working with these veterans was a great learning experience.”
In the film, Tahira and Akash are seen playing childhood sweethearts. “I am playing the role of an emotional girl Sneha Malhotra, who values emotions,” reveals the multi-faceted actor, who is a self-confessed fitness freak and an expert jazz dancer. Her other interests include basketball, swimming and painting.
Model-turned-actors generally face a certain kind of scepticism from the audience. But Tahira says, “When you’re acting, you are so focussed on your character that there’s no time to think about anything else. Particularly, when you are a newcomer, you are so occupied with trying to get everything in the right order that you don’t really bother about what people have to say.”
Talking about the ladies who inspire this young actress, she says, “Within the film industry, I greatly admire Madhuri Dixit. She is so graceful. Outside the industry, my mother is my pillar of support and she handles multiple tasks so efficiently.”
