12/12/12 may just be another numerological combination in the calendar, but people world over are planning to make this day memorable as the date is considered auspicious apart from being an iconic date.

From starting new ventures, tying the knot to delivering babies and starting afresh, many people are planning to seal the deal on this special date as the last of triple date sequence will only occur again in a hundred years.
Famous numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani mentions that dates like 10/10/10 or 11/11/11 have seen many couples walking the aisle, and this time it’s not going to be any different.
“It’s an auspicious time for alliances but a lot of people are using the date as it’s an easy number to remember,” he says.
12/12/12 is a day influenced by Jupiter as 12 adds to 3, so it’s going to be favourable to kickstart new projects, says another numerologist Rabia Kochar. She adds, “12/12/12 is going to bring good vibrations and it’s going to be a brilliant day to initiate work-related assignments. People born on the 12th are business oriented so they should make the most of it. But I won’t suggest people to either marry or deliver babies as it’s not going to make any difference.”
Doctors in the city are also getting requests from expectant mothers, who wish to deliver their babies on this day. While many gynecologists refused to quote a figure, Dr Rita Bakshi says, “I have also got many such requests but we never encourage women to ‘choose’ a caesarian date unless we need to do one due to medical reasons. We dissuade women as these things don’t add to anything.”
Photographer Deepak Aggarwal, who doesn’t believe in astrology or what the pundits have to say, has decided to wed his fiancée on Wednesday. “It would be stupid to let go of this date. I proposed to my girlfriend on 11/11/11 and now we are entering matrimony on 12/12/12.”
Brand consultant Richa Gupta, who is also getting hitched on the same day, seconds, “This date is never going to repeat in our lives. So it makes sense to make my big day even more special.”
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s The Last Act, where 12 filmmakers from 12 cities have shot the film, was conceived in September keeping the date in mind. The film releases in 12/12/12 and Anurag has planned a premiere in Juhu on the same day.
Kabir Chowdhry, one of the directors, says, “It’s a landmark date and releasing India’s first collaborative feature — a murder mystery — where the 12 clues and the 12 short stories made by 12 directors come together, will make it unforgettable.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
