Marathon filmmaking
For the first time ever in the history of filmmaking in India, a film has been shot in two hours and 17 minutes without any cuts. Six Hours with Terrorists, directed by Karan Kashyap, has garnered attention for its cinematography. So far, there have just been two films; Russian Arc (one hour and 38 minutes) and British film PVC (two hours
and 24 minutes) and Indian TV show CID that made a record of one hour 41 minutes of any uncut scenes. Six Hours with Terrorists has broken all the previous records and made a new record in history of India as well as of world cinema.
Produced by Arun Deodhar, the film is about a family dealing with six terrorists who barge into a house and their ways to deal with the situation. Karan, who is the director says, “I was an architect by profession and since three years, I have been thinking of directing films. Through this film we intend to promote out-of-the-box ideas and in a way motivate the young talent of the country. The message we want to send out through this film, is that we are not scared of any terrorist and terrorism needs to be dealt with properly.”
Karan adds that it was a challenge to shoot the film without any cuts. Kanchan Adhikari of the Adhikari Group represented the group when it entered the Limca Book of World Records, she says, “I was shocked to know that the film had been shot in less than three hours.”
