The mark of talent
Indian fashion industry is embarking on new height and more international companies are coming to India looking for best of talent. The latest addition to the already existing list is Woolmark, which held its Indian reginal award — the International Woolmark Prize, for the first time
The grand royal ballroom of the Leela Palace, Delhi, that hosted the event was packed with fashionistas. Holding their attention were the models walking the ramp wearing wool creations by some well-known fashion designers.
Designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi, who won the prize for their colourful basket-shaped dress devoted inspired by Japanese and other Eastern cultures, were nevertheless excited on the occasion. Ecstatic Pankaj said, “Merino wool offers you plenty of options to explore, owning to its fine fiber. Our design involving a great mix of colours is what made us stand out from the rest.” To this, Gaurav Gupta added, “Wool, especially Merino is so beautiful to experiment with and it drapes well”.
Designer Rahul Mishra, the third finalist said, “Wool is more like philosophy – it can be interpreted in our own ways.”
Wool is the new tool for our designers it seems.
