Tis the season to get spookylicious what with the pumpkin carvings, evil eyes and wacky creations all around. Sonic Sarwate, senior artist, MAC suggests flaunting three timeless and chic Halloween looks supported by face charts for the dark night tomorrow.

Marilyn Monroe: Even out the skintone by using foundation and concealer. To achieve a smooth matte finish use studiofix powder. Contour the cheeks with mineralise skinfinish and blunt just to make it intense. Add peach blush on the apple of the cheeks for the flushed look. Use pencil to define the brows and add eye shadow to finish it on the lid and add eye shadow in the crease to create a very well defined socket. Black liner on the top lid will define the eyes. To finish eye makeup use eyelash topped up with several coats of mascara. For the signature red lip, use lip pencil in brick to define the lips and fill in with deep red lipstick with dash of gloss on it to complete the look.

Nicki Minaj: Use foundation on the face and add concealer to neutralise any shadows on the skin, with a big fluffy brush sweep mineralise skin finish all over the face. Use blush to add flush to the cheeks and apply cream colour base on high planes of the face to highlight. Groom the brows with eye pencil. On the eyes start with wash of paint pot, add chrome yellow eye shadow, start from the inner corner go to the outer corner. To make the crease intense, use humid and freshwater eye shadow. Use black liner to define upper lash line and electric eel and freshwater eye shadow for lower lid. Use fascinating eye kohl on waterline and finish with mascara. To achieve the bold pink lips, use magenta lip liner for definition and Glam Nicki Minaj lipstick all over the lips.

Gotye: Map out the design on the face with blacktrack liner. Fill in each section with the colours as shown in the face chart. Use lightest colour of foundation, red lipstick and brown lipstick and set them with transparent finishing powder. To finish the look use foundation concealer on rest of the face and define the eyes with blacktrack eyeliner.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
