‘Men can’t handle successful women’
She was last seen doing a cameo in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil Toh Bahccha Hai Ji, in 2011. She will now be seen in Ramaiya Vastavaiya. But the actress refuses to look at it as her comeback film.
“I was only focusing a little more on Southern films. For me, cinema is one. I don’t categorise it on the basis of languages,” she says. She also has Nikhil Advani’s D Day in her kitty.
A proud daughter, Shruti appreciates the way her father, Kamal Haasan, tackled the Vishwaroopam controversy. “I’m happy that he stood by his conviction. The issue is solved and Vishwaroopam did a decent business commercially. I think my father is a strong man and a very respectable actor,” she says.
An independent girl, Shruti makes it a point to be in touch with her family. Despite her star parents’ separation, Shruti and her sister Akshara have a healthy and a cordial relationship with them. “My father is busy with his work down South and my mom and sister live two minutes away from my house. So, every time I want home food and feel the need to be pampered, I just drop by at mother’s place.”
There have been rumours about Shruti’s secret liaison with Rana Dagubatti, but she is quick to deny it. She adds that she is single and not ready to mingle yet.
“I’m travelling 20 days a month. My music, writing, and films take priority. I’m an independent girl, living all by myself. I haven’t found a man who can understand my erratic schedules. I feel that men can’t handle successful women.”
