‘Miss Indias are in a rat race’
Konkana Bakshi, winner of the title of Miss Elegance at the Miss Leisure World 2008, has donned a new hat. She is the woman behind Savoir Faire, that promises to take grooming in India to the next level.
Konkana says, “I travel a lot with my mom to help her with the diamond business. My experiences have made me realise that we Indians do have money but lack the edge. We are still very intimidated with the western world despite our acumen.”
At the same time, Konkana’s experience as a model-actor had not been great with grooming seminars. “They publicise and promise a lot but deliver nothing.”
Konkana felt there was definitely a void in that segment that needed to be overcome. “I wanted to see whether in India we can tailor and deliver something compared to other grooming schools. And hence, Savoir Faire.”
She places an important focus on fitness, which is essential in today’s life but something that the corporate world tends to forget. “When you start your day with exercise and a smart diet, it’s related to a long-term success.”
Konkana believes that contestants from beauty pageants today, only look at Bollywood as their goal. “All Miss Indias are in a rat race of becoming the next Aishwarya Rai, I belong to a
business family and believe a Miss India has a lot in her to achieve and give back to the society than
having a one-track ambition.”
