Much in love with moochh
The Indian man always had a soft spot for a moustache â it was a symbol of his machismo, and a style statement. And now that pride has scored a win in a global listing. According to a recent survey (to celebrate moustaches in âMovemberâ) from Hotels.com, Mexicans have the most impressive moustaches, while Indian moustaches stand second.
While a moustache never goes out of fashion, Bollywood actors seem to have fallen in love with it all over again. Salman retains his Chulbul Pandey moustache in Dabangg 2, Aamir Khan dons a thick moustache in Talaash. Also Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Shahid Kapur in Mausam, Ajay Devgn in Singham, Sonu Sood in Dabangg, Akshay in Rowdy Rathore, and others sported moustaches too.
Youngsters religiously imitate the styles of their cine icons, says freelance photographer Manan Sharma, âIf a film becomes a hit, the young brigade does get influenced.â
âWe have a tradition of moustaches. While in earlier days the moustache spoke of royalty, in recent times a moustache adds a quirky touch. Ranbir looked so cute in Barfi with just a thin line above the lip,â says market analyst Vishesh Sharma.
A moustache is a part of the masculine look this fall, especially after Movember and social media feeds declared its comeback.
âI remember my dad growing his moustache for the longest time and he wouldnât shave it off. I guess it adds to the whole masculine appeal. Porn stars are doing it too â a pornstache, which is my favourite. Once you get the grooming part right, one can look really cool,â says blogger and stylist Santu Misra.
