Chilling out on a weekend with some music and a group of friends in a club or pub is what most city youngsters look forward to. But how about giving the club a break, and going out on a picnic outdoors with music, dance, food and fun? Fashion fraternity, music bands and city socialites came together to give back to Mother Nature and ‘reclaiming their turf’ at the Huda Gymkhana Club, Gurgaon on Saturday evening. Folk and Rock music, a flea market action packed with organic food and special recycle bins were highlights of the evening.
“Donate your old clothes and enter, I think that was a brilliant idea. Apart from that, I got to play with some very talented artists & DJs. I did back to back set with Breger from Germany as well as jammed on the percussions and dropped some of my unreleased tracks. An outdoor event with two stages — one for folk and the other for rock, and a lovely flea market and a great ambience was fresh and welcoming,” said Ash Roy from Jalebi Cartel, a popular EDM group. Other groups that performed included Delusional, Mrigiya, Tritha, besides solo performances by Vasundhra Sharma, Sarthak Mudgal as well.
Said fashion designer Malini Ramani, “The event had a beautiful core idea. In the lap of nature, bright sunlight, great music and food; the event was all about having fun but in an eco-friendly environment. I loved the energy and the concept.”
Others from the fashion fraternity present to show their support included Rohit Gandhi, Rahul Khanna, Shantanu & Nikhil Mehra, Indrani Dasgupta, Teena Chatwal and Manish Arora.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
